About Us

Sruthiswara School of Music, a 501 (c) (3)  registered non-profit corporation, (tax id # 33-1684776), was established in 2016 in Somerset County, New Jersey by married couple, Mrs. Nirmala Rajesh and Mr. Rajesh Nathan.  For over 9 years, the school has successfully provided services in Somerset County, NJ and teaches students all across the state of New Jersey and the U.S.  The school is specialized in offering vocal and instrumental modes of instruction in Indian Classical music with lessons administered both virtually and in-person, in group and private formats and catering to adults and children of all levels.  Music certificate, diploma, and Masters degree programs are offered through its affiliation with Vedic Wellness University in Florida and through SAMPADA by SiliconAndhra in affiliation with Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University (PSTU), an NAAC accredited institution. PSTU (established in 1985) is a reputed and widely respected university headquartered in Hyderabad within the Telangana state in South India.

 Accomplishments 

Sruthiswara’s long and outstanding record of accomplishments includes the following: 

  • Recipient of the 2025 Excellence in the Art Award from the Somerset  Heritage and Cultural Commission, NJ – USA.                 
  • It has classically trained over 500 students with 50+ students having successfully passed exams and graduated from certificate level courses.
  • It has been a service-provider in the community for more than 20 years.
  • It was the first organization to (re-)initiate two unique programs honoring and paying tribute to leading composers in this genre of music in the Northeastern United States and to conduct a choir featuring the talent of over 100 local children.  These events have been conducted every year for the past 8 years, during which the teachers and students of various, local music and dance schools were invited to showcase their talents in an effort to honor these great composers.  
  • One of its events, “Tamil Composers Day” organized in December 2024 raised over $2,500 which was fully donated to the temple at which the event was held.
  • It participated and partnered with many local/cultural events organized by various organizations.

It has established a unique social media presence with over 5 million views of its Instagram videos.
